• A high-quality alkyd paint which gives a tough, durable, weather resistant gloss finish with excellent fungus resistance.

Recommendations for Surface Preparation

• For oily wood surfaces, remove surface oils with Penta Thinner 41 then wipe thoroughly, and prime using Penta Woodprimer Undercoat.
• For iron and steel surfaces, remove rust and millscale by hand tool cleaning in accordance with SSPC-SP2-82 standards or by power tool cleaning in accordance with SSPC-SP3-82 standards. Remove oil and grease by solvent cleaning using Penta Thinner 41, then prime using Penta Metal Shield.
• For aluminum surfaces, degrease using Penta Thinner 41 then prime using Penta Metal Shield.
• For new galvanize surfaces, degrease using Penta Thinner 41. Remove non-oily soils and dirt by water-washing with scrubbing, using a nylon brush/broom, then prime using Penta Metal Shield.
• Partially soluble contaminants and clear water-sensitive chromate coatings may be removed by cleaning with a solution of ammonia or acetic acid, followed by thorough rinsing with clean water. Sanding or brush sand blasting may be used to remove silicate and chromate treatments and also to roughen the surface, which is important for ensuring good adhesion.
• For rusted galvanize surfaces, derust by hand or power tool cleaning to remove rust/millscale.

Application

• When using a brush or roller, apply an even coat to avoid runs and sags.
• When using an airless spray, use a tip size 0.48–0.58 mm, 1600–2300 psi.
• When using a conventional spray, use a tip size 1.8–2.2 mm, 40–50 psi.
